DARYLO is Mixin' Up Some Fine Canadian Heat and Takin' It Across America with Crack4DJ's!

DARYLO, as he prefers to be known as, is an example of some of the fine DJ talent that Canada has been steadily producing over the past 10 years. Beginning his studies at the young age of 11, DARYLO has been drawn to music for the majority of his life. Music was part of his family life. Despite a brief career hiatus as a bus boy, DARYLO has been working diligently to develop his mixing and turntable skills seriously for at least the past 5 years. He has held a residency at one of the hawtest nightclubs in Vancouver, Canada called Caprice(www.capricenightclub.com)for the past 3 years. He also can be seen at Republic and Celebrities nightclubs in Vancouver and has started venturing accross the border to mentor and work alongside of some of the most influential DJ's in Vegas! DARYLO has also been highly successful at networking and self-promotion and is no stranger to the limelight.

DJ Mehdi with DARYLO

Seen hanging with A-listers such as Lindsay Lohan, DJ Pete Tong, DJ AM, DJ Mehdi and following in the experienced footsteps of DJ's Kevin Scott, Scotty Boy, and Spider, this artist is moulding himself into a stellar quality DJ.

Acknowledged as one of THE FIRST DVJ's on the Canadian West Coast, DARYLO enjoys integrating his sets with his video mixes to spice things up and he has been capturing the attention of the powerhouses in the industry. Having recently joined an elite group of DJ's in the Crooklyn Clan Vault sister affiliation Crack4DJ's (www.crack4djs.net), DARYLO's work may now be downloaded and used by other DJ's to enhance or beef up their sets. In terms of a particular style or flare that would peg DARYLO, it's hard to pigeon-hole him to anyone genre. He himself has coined his style as "Electro, Retro and Hyphy".

He is a versatile deejay who prides himself on the ability to pull music from all genres and mash them up into a spicey remix that quite often has a rocky edge to it. He prefers to jack up the BPM and in keeping with a Scotty Boy style, he enjoys the challenge of movin' his dancefloor to some dirty, hawt and grindin' hits. However, in listening to some of his most recent creations I personally find the most interesting ones include some of the Old Skool from Foreigner and The Beatles. I think his remix "Cold As Ice Like That" is juice and "Hello Goodbye Grindin" is totally taking The Beatles to a new height. How fun to bring back such a class in a such a contemporary club style. It's fantastic in my opinion and also a great club banger. DARYLO reaches all levels of audience with his work and this to me reflects a DJ who will flourish and prosper in the club scene. He himself states that "I have even dropped a John Lennon at 12:30 at night". He has a sense of the crowd/music chemistry that is an intrinsically necessary quality in a DJ. Don't get me wrong, DARYLO is a party boy too...dubbed, "The Golden Boy" by the Vancouver nightlife scene, he has a got a sense of humor. On his MySpace page(www.myspace.com/djdarylo), he refers to himself as a one-man-band, "I am THE band Yoko!!!!! - 2 technics mk5 - DVJ 1000-x - Pioneer DJM800 - 15" MacBook Pro - Serato Scratch Live - and i shit u not... i rock all those at once" This artist enjoys the challenge of carrying his audience along with his free spirit!

Oh and for the record, the DJ Scotty Boy and DARLYO combination is quite a force on either side of the decks, so it appears! Be sure to check out DARYLO'S exclusive Buzz DJ Survey along with his current bio reflection. We have also included his current schedule, to give our readers a sense of just how busy this rising Canadian DJ celebrity is!! Be sure to check out all of DARYLO'S mixes on Crack4DJs or on his MySpace page. If you are lucky enough to be in Vancouver or in Vegas, be sure to make it a point to catch this DJ who promises to give you a night of insane pleasure on the dancefloor!!

BIO REFLECTION

"Past: First mix tape at age 11, with brother Kyle on their 'lil yellow radio', followed by many attempts to 'mix' tapes to "delete the 2-second pause". This all leading to a Dj career that started after a weak attempt as a bus-boy. With his wide knowledge and collection of music, he quickly stepped into the industry in 2004. Kicking off his skills at the infamous Remedy Thursdays at Barfly up to its closure, then creating a series of mix CD's called "LA Gangster PoolParty" which eventually led to his one-time playing interview @ the prestigious Caprice Nightclub.

Present: Now with 3 years as the Caprice resident behind him, he has played some of Vancouver's biggest club parties to-date. In Nov 2006, Daryl became Vancouvers first DVJ Dj (to mix the videos with the audio (Fri&Sats ONLY)), which has created "some of the most insane dancefloors I've ever seen".

Future: Dubbed 'Vancouver's Golden Boy' by his peers, he has began producing a list of Mash-Ups that have received various radio and club play by both local djs and his international heroes.

DARYLO'S BUZZ DJ SURVEY

1. What inspired you to pick your DJ your name?
My DJ name was actually just printed by promoters after many failed attempts to create one. so DARYLO - it is!!! (He is also known as "The Golden Boy" in the Vancouver nightclub scene.)

2. What kind of music do you like to spin?
I would sum up what i play to Electro/Glam/Hyphy....and every song ever made... really!!!! I have dropped John Lennons Imagine at 1230 at night...

3. What and who are some of your major influences (artists, djs, etc.)?

Major influences are Kevin Scott, AM, Spider among others. They all have well rounded sets, and great production skills.

4. Biggest reward about being a DJ?
Besides the fat check, i'd have to say trying something live for 1st time and getting a good reaction..

5. Biggest pet peeve about being a DJ?

Biggest pet peeve would have to be people thinking a dj just presses play on a record !!!

6. What is the best party you have ever spun at?

Best party was a 21st Birthday in West Palm Beach, Fla. The girl's dad spent $500,000 on it, and I shit you not, it was damn near Diddy's White Party!!!

7. If you could mix at a club or party anywhere, where would it be and with whom?

I'd play wherever my friends could be. Nothing beats playing when ur friends are into your music.

8. In what cities have you spun? Are you a resident DJ at any clubs right now?

(To Vegas with Scotty Boy, Trevor Risk and Rok Box, since the completion of this survey. He's on the mooooveee!!!)

Like no where. Full time students dont have time to travel and play.
But my residency is by far one of the dopest club in western canada (Caprice).

9. What is the hottest club you have ever been to, either as a DJ or a patron?

I really had a dope time at Winstons in Hollywood. Met Lohan there the day she left rehab, was a dope time.

10. Do you plan out your sets or do you play to the crowd's reactions?

Never plan anything out. I dont even have my songs (in Serato) put into genres or anything. It gives each night a different feel, and stops me from getting stale.

11. If you could design a club, name three important aspects of it's layout.

DJ booth in the centre of the dancefloor with security all around.
Dope VIP section, and clean washrooms.

12. Techno/Trance or Mash-up/Hip Hop

All of the above... and some Electro, Retro and Rock

13. East Coast or West Coast?

West Coast.. more sun, less clothes

14. MAC or PC?

MAC - I don't care what Sizz says :) , Serato hasn't crashed since I switched 2 years ago ;)

15. Top favorite 3 tracks of all time.
Shit. thats hard.. Weezer - In the Garage, Bone Thugs - 1st of That Month, Phil Collins - Sussusudio
word
