Tuesday, March 9, 2010 The Oscars did not disappoint the other night. Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin were great hosts keeping the comedy up and director, Kathryn Bigelow for "The Hurt Locker" became the first woman to win best director!! Beating out her ex-husband, James Cameron (Avatar) in not just best director but best picture as well. Woman power!!!
But, enough about the actual awards, we care about the fashions!!!!!!!!!!!! And ruffles were huge on the red carpet this year, as well as one-shouldered dresses as well as strapless. Here are my top 5 BEST dressed of the 2010 Oscars!!!!
1.) Jennifer Lopez was absolutely radiant in her iridescent pale pink silk organza Giorgio Armani evening gown that fit her curves just right and made her just glow.
2.) Elizabeth Banks in a gun-metal grey Versace gown..need I say more? She kept it simple with a thin headband and her hair back, but not messy like the other women on the red carpet. She kept it nice and elegant, as it should be.
3.) Sandra Bullock dressed as an Oscar winner in her silvery, fluid gown with an embroidered bodice by Marchesa and went on to snag the Oscar for Best Actress for her tough as nails but sweet as candy role in The Blindside. Her acceptance speech brought tears to everyone watching, well except Meryl Streep, as well as myself. This was a well-deserved win for her! About damn time.
4.) Penelope Cruz in red on the red carpet? Usually this is a dont but when a beautiful woman such as Penelope Cruz is strutting her stuff in a red Donna Karan Couture satin pleated gown, it turns into a big DO! The way the bodice almost hugs her torso and curves and then goes into a gorgeous full skirt adds drama and an amazing silhouette to an already curvy beautiful woman.
5.) Rachel McAdams is already naturally gorgeous as is, lucky bitch but seeing her in her pink, blue and green water-color dress from Elie Saab adds to her wow factor even more. The dress looks as though it came straight from a museum onto Rachel right onto the red carpet. She took a chance by not going mainstream and wowed in the process. But are we really surprised, this is the stunning Rachel McAdams after all.
