Final Cut Pro “X”
Friday, June 10, 2011
“Good news for the all those video editors out there that use Final Cut Pro as the totally overhauled and long awaited Final Cut Pro X has just been announced and all I can say it has shot to the top of my MUST HAVE list. Over the past few years it has became a lot easier to start shooting and editing your own documentaries, vlogs or if your keen enough your very own full length movie. Video cameras have improved majorly from the handheld ones you used to record your kids birthday to the newer generation of flip cameras so you are getting amazing looking HD footage and only spending anything from £100 upwards. So now you have your camera your going to need to edit it all together, Final Cut Pro has been about since 1998 and in that time it has been responsible for some of the best things to hit our TVs and cinema screens in those 13 years. Its amazing power, streamline interface and ease of use made it my first choice but after being a user for the past eight years I wasn’t enjoying seeing Apples competitors improve there editing software’s and have me thinking about jumping ship but they have managed to catch me before the leap with this jaw dropping update.
OLD VERSION
Firstly the most noticeable change as soon as you open the software is the new GUI (Graphic User Interface) which straight away looks beautiful but also makes you feel like you are about to go back to square one finding your way about but even though there are a few changes or ways of accessing your tools you soon realize its no so bad. Next big thing is when working with video a lot of the time you need to render your work if you want to see how it looks with an effect applied etc which means stopping what you are doing while this takes place and if you want to put that into prospective it takes Pixar a minimum of 144 hours to render one second of there movies YES one second! This won’t be a problem with Final Cut X is it has background rendering so you will not be disturbed with your edit. This is fuelled by another big change which is the software is now 64bit instead of 32 bit which means even if you had more than 4GB of Ram in your computer Final Cut could only take advantage these 4GB but not anymore it will take advantage of as much as you can afford to stuff in there and with this new found power you can now edit 4K footage which is four times bigger than 1080p HD, WOW.
NEW VERSION FCP X
So when I heard about the new update was in the pipeline I wasn’t sure what would be improved but then I realized if something isn’t broke don’t fix it just give it more power and a bigger heart.
Apple is hoping for a June launch with a price tag of $299 but there is no mention yet about the rest of the Final Cut Studio gang like Motion, Color, Compressor and Final Cut Express but I am sure Apple has as covered so I can’t wait to see what they have in store after this exciting update on Final Cut Pro.”
